Algorand has introduced a rekeying feature that allows existing accounts to switch their transaction authorization to the post-quantum Falcon-1024 signing method without changing their on-chain addresses or moving assets. This update extends the post-quantum signing capability, previously available only to new native Falcon-1024 accounts launched in August 2026, to accounts already in use. The feature is supported via SDKs, AlgoKit, and Pera Wallet, enhancing security against quantum threats while maintaining user convenience. Although some network components still use traditional cryptography, Algorand aims for broader quantum resilience by the end of 2027.
