Uber abandons full Grab takeover, keeps 13.5% stake, shifts focus to Delivery Hero deal.

Uber has officially stepped back from acquiring full control of Southeast Asia's Grab, retaining only a 13.5% stake and surrendering its board seat as revealed in a July 2026 securities filing. The filing confirms Uber is not pursuing control and highlights the challenges posed by Grab's dual-class share structure and regulatory scrutiny. Instead, Uber is focusing its capital on a pending €12.7 billion acquisition of Delivery Hero in Europe. Unless Uber changes its ownership filings or the Delivery Hero deal fails, it will maintain a minority stake in Grab without pursuing a full takeover.

Uber shares are trading at USD 69.97 with a slight 0.11% increase, while Grab's stock is up 1.26% at USD 3.21 on Pluang. The platform shows a strong buying interest for both stocks, with 62% buy orders for Uber and 70% for Grab. These figures are current as of Sep 23, 2026 19:12 WIB.
