Abbisko and AstraZeneca partner to develop new lung cancer combo therapy, cleared for Phase I/II trials in China.

Abbisko Therapeutics and AstraZeneca have formed a strategic collaboration to advance a novel combination therapy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) involving Abbisko's oral PD-L1 inhibitor lumipodlin and AstraZeneca's EGFR-TKI Tagrisso. The Phase I/II clinical trial, approved by China's NMPA, will evaluate safety and efficacy in patients with EGFR-mutated, PD-L1 positive NSCLC, a group with limited treatment benefits from current EGFR-TKIs. Lumipodlin is a first-in-class small molecule targeting PD-L1, potentially offering a new oral immunotherapy option. This partnership aims to address an unmet medical need and could improve outcomes for this patient population.
