When can US Stock transactions be made?
The US stock market is open Monday through Friday (excluding US national holidays) from 9:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. WIB and 8:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. WIB during Daylight Saving Time. Daylight Saving Time begins in the second week of March and ends in the first week of November each year.
You can still place orders for market orders in dollars, limit orders, stop orders, and stop limit orders outside of trading hours, but the orders will be executed during trading hours.
For your information, the US Stock product provided by Pluang is a PALN stock product, so order execution depends on the stock liquidity on the exchange. The liquidity of a stock depends on the matching of orders between bid and ask on the exchange. If the number you set on the limit order has not found a matching order on the exchange, the order will not be executed.
Limit orders can only be executed when there is someone in the market willing to buy/sell their asset according to the order. If liquidity is low, the order cannot be executed because the price displayed on the chart is the stock reference price and may not be the execution price.
User orders will always be executed based on the best bid/ask in the market. You can use market orders to guarantee the execution price as desired, but if liquidity is low in the market then the execution price may be very different from the price displayed on the chart.
For example in a limit order,
- a stock is currently trading for $10.00 per share,
- but you only want to pay up to $7.00 per share.
- So you can make a limit order with a limit price of $7.00 at 18:00 WIB.
- Transactions will be executed when the exchange opens at 21:30 WIB and
- if the share price drops from $10.00 to $7.00 or lower.
- If the stock price does not drop to $7.00 then your order will not be executed.
