PT. Gajah Tunggal, Tbk (the Company) was established based on notarial deed No. 54 dated August 24, 1951 of Raden Meester Soewandi, S.H., notary public in Jakarta. The Company is the largest tire manufacturer in Indonesia with 32% market share of four-wheel vehicle tire market and 85% of the motorcycle tire market.

About Smart Tbk.

The Company began its business under the name of PT Maskapai Perkebunan Sumcama Padang Halaban in 1962. In 1970, the Company was returned to the foreign party and converted its status to PMA (Foreign Capital Investment). Further in 1985, the status of the Company was converted to PMDN (Domestic Capital Investment). The Company then in 1991 changed its name to PT Sinar Mas Agro Resources and Technology Corporation or abbreviated PT SMART Corporation. In 1989, the Company acquired 100% shares of 2 oil palm plantations, PT Maskapai Perkebunan Leidong West Indonesia and PT Perusahaan Perkebunan Panigoran. The Comapany the also acquired 100% shares of PT Maskapai Perkebunan Indorub Sumber Wadung, tea plantation. In 1991, the Company took over 100% shares of PT Nirmala Agung; tea plantation, PT PT Global Agronusa Indonesia; banana plantation, PT Mulyorejo Industrial Company; a producer of cooking oil, margarine and shortening, and acquired a 25% stake in PT Grahamas Indojaya; transportation company. Prior to the public offering in 1992, the Company took over 100% shares of PT Kunci Mas Wijaya, 49% shares of PT Inti Gerakmaju; hybrid coconut and an oil palm plantation, and a 49% shares of PT Tapian Nadenggan; an oil palm plantation. The Company then acquired 50% shares of PT Sinar Meadow International Indonesia; producer of cooking oil, margarine and shortening, and PT Sinar Pure Foods International; a tuna canning operation. In 1993, the Company took over two oil palm plantation, PT Kresna Duta Agroindo which ia located in Jambiand PT Pilinti Perkasa Alam then changed its name to PT Ivo Mas Exim, which is located in Riau.
