WEMIX, a South Korean blockchain gaming platform, is investigating a potential security breach involving the ownership of its USDC-backed stablecoin contract, WEMIX$. This comes months after a major hack in February 2025 that drained $6.1 million worth of WEMIX tokens due to compromised authentication keys. The current investigation could indicate a new type of vulnerability if contract ownership was compromised. WEMIX had already planned to phase out WEMIX$ in favor of USDC.e, but this incident raises fresh concerns about the platform's security as it recently gained momentum with new listings and integrations.
