Visa CEO Ryan McInerney confirmed the company will maintain a multi-coin, multi-chain approach to stablecoins, supporting Open USD alongside other tokens like USDT and USDC. Visa's new Stablecoin Platform enables clients to access Open USD and other stablecoins without exclusivity, reflecting a strategy to connect clients with whichever stablecoins gain adoption. Open USD, backed by over 140 companies including Visa and Mastercard, plans a launch later in 2026 with a unique governance and revenue model differing from existing stablecoins. Visa's approach allows flexibility and broad support, with the real test being partner integration and market adoption after Open USD's launch.
