Toyota recalls nearly 31,000 RAV4 plug-in hybrids over software risk at high speeds

Toyota is recalling 30,978 units of its 2026 RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid due to a software defect that may cause the plug-in hybrid system to reduce power or shut down at high speeds. This issue, identified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), raises the risk of a crash due to unexpected powertrain shutdown. Toyota will update the affected vehicles' software free of charge, with owner notifications expected to begin in late November and early December.

As of Oct 15, 2026 09:11 WIB, Toyota Motor Corp shares are trading at USD 190.52 on Pluang, showing a 0.96% gain for the day. The stock's market capitalization stands at $221.69 billion, reflecting steady investor interest despite the recall news. Pluang data also shows a balanced investor sentiment with 59% of orders to buy and 41% to sell, highlighting cautious optimism around Toyota's handling of the issue.
