Suncor sells offshore assets for $1.2B cash plus $350M contingent, boosts share buybacks to $750M/month.

Suncor Energy has agreed to sell its interests in the Terra Nova, White Rose, and West White Rose offshore oil assets to Ithaca Energy for $1.2 billion in cash plus up to $350 million contingent on future oil prices. Ithaca will take over all future liabilities and investment commitments, including a $500 million well compliance program and $1.4 billion in abandonment costs. The deal, effective July 1, 2026, is expected to close in early 2027 and will see Ithaca become operator of Terra Nova. Suncor will retain its stakes in Hebron and Hibernia and maintain its goals to grow free funds flow and reduce breakeven costs. Additionally, Suncor is increasing its monthly share repurchases from $500 million to $750 million starting October 2026, signaling confidence in its core integrated assets.

Suncor Energy shares trade at USD 69.56 on Pluang as of Oct 05, 2026 06:11 WIB, up 0.67% for the day. The stock's market cap stands at $81.02 billion, reflecting strong investor interest. Its dividend yield is 2.44%, supporting income-focused investors amid the company's strategic asset divestment and increased share repurchases.
