Proprietary AMMs on Solana show lower execution costs than conventional AMMs for quiet SOL/USDC trades.

Research comparing proprietary automated market makers (propAMMs) and conventional AMMs on Solana found propAMMs had significantly lower execution costs (0.26 basis points) than conventional AMMs (2.59 basis points) during stable price periods. PropAMMs allow a single operator to update prices independently, reducing arbitrage losses that conventional AMMs face when prices lag. Despite higher average daily trading volumes on propAMMs, both types saw volume declines over a year. The study does not conclude that propAMMs cause losses for liquidity providers or that conventional AMMs yield worse returns. This research was submitted as a preprint on Sept. 29, 2025.

Solana propAMMs show execution costs as low as 0.26 basis points, compared to 2.59 basis points for conventional AMMs, highlighting efficiency in quiet SOL/USDC trades.
