SK Hynix, SanDisk, and Micron stocks fall 3% despite Goldman Sachs downplaying China chip threat

Shares of SK Hynix, SanDisk, and Micron each dropped about 3% amid concerns over China's CXMT advancing in memory chip technology. Goldman Sachs, however, told clients that fears about CXMT's threat to advanced memory chips are exaggerated and highlighted SK Hynix and Samsung as attractive investments after recent selloffs. The market remains cautious as the next key test will be whether SK Hynix can maintain its technology lead against CXMT's progress on denser memory-chip designs. Investors may hold positions cautiously while monitoring China's capacity expansion and AI spending impacts on memory pricing.

Following the chip sector jitters over China’s CXMT, SK Hynix shares fell 4.34% to USD 139.77 on Pluang as of Oct 16, 2026 20:41 WIB, with a market cap of $686.53B. SanDisk also dropped 2.85% to USD 1,355.05, while Micron declined 3.37% to USD 899.84. Despite these declines, Pluang order activity shows strong buying interest for SK Hynix at 74%, and Micron at 82%, indicating continued investor engagement in these memory chip stocks.
