Oracle's cloud and AI business surges with $638B backlog, signaling major growth beyond legacy database.

Oracle is rapidly transforming from a legacy database company into a leading cloud hyperscaler, driven by a massive $638 billion backlog in Remaining Performance Obligations (RPO), up 363% year-over-year. The company secured $67 billion in AI infrastructure contracts in Q4 FY2026, with cloud revenue growing up to 93% quarterly and total cloud sales reaching nearly $10 billion, representing over half of total revenue. Oracle's multicloud AI database service grew 404% in Q4, and management projects FY2027 revenue of $90 billion with continued expansion of its cloud infrastructure. Despite heavy capital expenditure and negative free cash flow this fiscal year, Oracle's prepaid contract model and strong operating cash flow growth support its aggressive buildout, making it a compelling buy as the market undervalues its growth potential.
