Uber shares fall 6% as Q3 outlook disappoints despite strong Q2 earnings and bookings growth

Uber's shares dropped about 6% after the company issued a third-quarter forecast that missed Wall Street expectations, despite beating Q2 earnings and gross bookings. For Q3, Uber expects adjusted EPS between $0.84 and $0.88, below the $0.89 analyst estimate, and gross bookings of $58.25 billion to $60.25 billion, slightly under the $59.33 billion consensus. However, Q2 results showed adjusted EPS of $0.81 in line with estimates, revenue of $14.19 billion just below consensus, and gross bookings up 24% year-over-year to $58 billion, beating estimates. Uber also reported strong cash flow and growth in trips and active users, with CEO Dara Khosrowshahi highlighting record consumer engagement and investment in autonomous vehicle technology.
