Raytheon and Composite Energy Technologies (CET) successfully demonstrated HADALUS, a new low-cost, long-endurance unmanned undersea vehicle (UUV), during a U.S. Navy exercise. HADALUS completed multiple at-sea missions, showcasing its ability to launch while submerged, a first for the U.S. Navy. The 34-foot UUV features a carbon-fiber exoskeleton, offers over 2,000 nautical miles of endurance, and costs significantly less than comparable vehicles. This breakthrough points to future autonomous undersea platforms capable of detect, reacquire, and engage functions in a single mission, with rapid development achieved in under 18 months.
