Osmosis proposes ending daily OSMO issuance and pausing developer vesting to rely on protocol revenue for staking rewards.

Osmosis is considering a proposal to stop daily issuance of new OSMO tokens and pause the daily vesting of tokens to developers. If approved in the on-chain vote scheduled for October 20, 2026, the protocol's revenue would become the only source of staking rewards. The proposal also freezes about 51.9 million OSMO tokens currently held in vesting, requiring future governance approval for any release. This change would stop new token creation that currently offsets about 2% annual token burns, potentially impacting OSMO's supply dynamics and staking incentives.

The Osmosis proposal to end daily OSMO inflation and pause vesting is noted here with Pluang's market snapshot as of Oct 14, 2026 22:02 WIB: Among 50 major cryptocurrencies priced on Pluang, only 6 rose while 43 fell.
