Prediction markets now see only a 10% chance that Stripe will acquire any part of PayPal in 2026, down from 70% earlier this year. Stripe and Advent International withdrew their $60.50 per share bid, valuing PayPal at over $53 billion, after PayPal's board rejected the offer as too low, seeking closer to $70 per share. PayPal shares dropped about 12% following the deal collapse. CEO Enrique Lores, who took over in March, aims to boost value through a business reorganization and $1.5 billion in cost cuts over the next few years. Although the deal is off for now, the prediction market contract remains open until year-end, leaving a slim chance talks could resume.
