McDonald's US sales growth slows as digital deal changes and value menu shift disrupt customer traffic.

McDonald's reported a slowdown in US comparable sales growth to 0.8% in the latest quarter, missing internal targets despite a 4% rise in global sales. The company attributed this to a strategic shift where it replaced popular digital deals with a new $3 value menu, which failed to attract budget-conscious customers as expected. CEO Chris Kempczinski acknowledged execution issues and operational challenges, including staff overwhelmed by multiple simultaneous promotions, leading to longer wait times and lower customer satisfaction. To address these issues, McDonald's appointed Skye Anderson as the new president of its US operations to help regain momentum and improve value offerings moving forward.
