Ethereum's top holders grew $13.9B richer this summer, shifting capital into staking and project tokens.

From June to September 2026, Ethereum's top 10,000 addresses increased their dollar wealth by $13.9 billion despite holding 0.9 million fewer ETH. This reflects a shift from holding liquid ETH to staking it, which grew by 3.6 million ETH, making ETH more productive rather than simply accumulating. Additionally, growth in project balances was largely driven by their own native tokens rather than external capital inflows. Smart contract capital became more concentrated among the largest contracts, while the fastest-growing capital was found outside known project labels. This shows that the summer market rebound involved a fundamental change in how capital is structured and used within the Ethereum ecosystem, not just a return to previous levels.
