Ethereum drops staking reward burn plan from Hegota upgrade, seeks separate process

The authors of Ethereum's EIP-8363 proposal to burn a rising share of staking rewards have withdrawn it from the upcoming Hegota upgrade. They believe changes to Ethereum's issuance policy require a dedicated, separate process rather than being part of a network fork. The proposal, which would have gradually increased the burned portion of validator rewards as more ETH is staked, faced significant industry pushback and was unanimously declined for Hegota inclusion by the Ethereum Foundation's protocol team. The authors, supported by Lido, plan to continue discussions through forums until spring 2027 to develop a more suitable approach.

While the Ethereum staking reward burn plan has been withdrawn from the Hegota upgrade, Lido DAO's token (LDO) remains actively traded on Pluang. As of Oct 02, 2026 16:57 WIB, LDO is priced at Rp8.098 with a slight 1-day decline of 0.64%, contrasting with a strong buy interest of 72% among Pluang users. Its market cap stands at Rp6,77 trillion, supported by a robust 24-hour trading volume of Rp1,11 trillion, indicating sustained investor engagement despite the proposal's setback.
