Ocean Power Technologies has successfully demonstrated autonomous docking, charging, and redeployment of its WAM-V maritime drone, enabling longer and lower-cost offshore missions without human intervention. This technology will integrate with their PowerBuoy platform to create offshore charging points, potentially forming a marine charging network for drones and electric boats. The company is also upgrading its WAM-V platform to enhance system compatibility, endurance, and payload support, aiming to improve persistent offshore operations in defense and commercial markets.
