Microchip Technology has introduced the LAN878x and LAN888x families of Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) PHY transceivers, supporting 100BASE-T1, 1000BASE-T1, and dual-speed variants. These devices integrate hardware-based MACsec security for enhanced data protection without added latency, along with native Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) for low-latency communication crucial in automotive and industrial systems. Designed for high reliability and functional safety compliant with ISO 26262 ASIL-B, they enable scalable, secure Ethernet connectivity for Software-Defined Vehicles and mission-critical applications. The PHYs are available in limited sampling and support design reuse with pin-compatible SKUs across speed variants.
