NEOS Gold High Income ETF yields nearly 12% but faces NAV pressure amid gold price drops.

The NEOS Gold High Income ETF (IAUI) offers an attractive near 12% yield by using a synthetic covered call strategy on gold ETPs combined with U.S. treasuries for income. However, recent declines in gold prices have caused IAUI's net asset value (NAV) to drop about 8% year-to-date and distributions to fall 16% since January. While IAUI could outperform if gold prices remain stable, its capped upside and risk of further NAV erosion mean potential negative returns if gold prices decline more. Despite short-term challenges, the long-term outlook for IAUI remains positive for income-focused investors seeking diversification away from equities.
