LightSolver's photonic processor shows up to 80,000× faster solving of complex equations than GPUs.

LightSolver, a subsidiary of CollPlant Biotechnologies, published a peer-reviewed study demonstrating its Laser Processing Unit (LPU) significantly accelerates solving large-scale sparse linear equations compared to state-of-the-art GPU algorithms. The research, done with the High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart, showed LPU could be 40 to over 80,000 times faster depending on the problem. This breakthrough highlights photonic computing's potential to reduce time, energy, and costs in high-performance computing, especially for scientific and engineering simulations. LightSolver envisions hybrid computing systems combining CPUs, GPUs, and LPUs to optimize performance for different workloads.

The research on LightSolver's photonic computing breakthrough is presented here alongside Pluang's Technology sector snapshot as of Sep 24, 2026 18:42 WIB. Among 150 US tech stocks, only 15 rose while 130 fell. For example, QUBT traded at USD 8.84 with a 3.07% drop and a typical hold time of 23 days, contrasting with MQ at USD 15.61 which also declined by 3.04% but held for 43 days on average, and CRDO at USD 188.00 down 3.03% with a shorter hold time of 21 days.
