Critical BTCPay Server flaw exploited, stealing Bitcoin from Lightning nodes; urgent update required.

A severe security vulnerability in BTCPay Server allowed hackers to access sensitive authentication files (.macaroon) and take control of Lightning Network nodes using LND software, resulting in theft of Bitcoin funds. BTCPay Server urgently advised all users to upgrade to version 2.4.2 or shut down their systems to prevent further losses. Victims include hardware wallet maker Foundation and Bitcoin media outlet Citadel21, both reporting drained Lightning nodes. Users are recommended to regenerate credentials and transfer funds to new wallets after updating to secure their assets. The flaw was responsibly disclosed by the Bitcoin Red Team but was already being exploited when the public warning was issued.
