Trump's tariffs raised prices on many goods by 2.9% as of early 2026, says NY Fed report.

A New York Federal Reserve report found that tariffs imposed under President Donald Trump increased prices on 67 categories of goods by 2.9 percentage points as of February 2026. Without these tariffs, prices for these goods would have declined by nearly 1%. The report highlights that about two-thirds of the price increase came directly from the tariffs, with the rest due to indirect effects on companies using imported parts. Despite some tariffs being struck down by the Supreme Court, elevated prices are expected to persist into 2027 as the White House continues to enforce levies through alternative measures.

The story on tariff-driven inflation on everyday items is complemented by Pluang's Consumer Staples sector data as of Oct 08, 2026 19:02 WIB: out of 57 stocks, 30 rose while 24 fell. Among them, Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BUD) gained 1.57% to USD 75.79 with a typical hold time of 75 days, contrasting with 22nd Century Group Inc (XXII) which dropped 1.29% to USD 0.88 and saw 97% of orders as sell. TAL Education Group (TAL) also rose by 1.27% to USD 12.76, showing mixed performance in the sector.
