HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding hires 50+ high school grads via WAVES mentorship program

HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding division has recruited over 50 graduating high school seniors through its WAVES program, which places experienced shipbuilders in high schools to mentor and guide students toward shipbuilding careers. The program builds relationships between skilled tradespeople and students, offering tutoring, career advice, and job opportunities. This initiative helps bridge education and practical experience, preparing the next generation of skilled professionals for HII’s workforce. The recruited students recently participated in a welcoming ceremony to begin their careers at Newport News Shipbuilding.
