Fiserv launches Roughrider Coin, a dollar-backed token for instant bank payments in North Dakota.

Fiserv has launched its digital asset platform with Roughrider Coin, a dollar-backed stablecoin on the Solana blockchain, enabling over 90 North Dakota banks and credit unions to settle payments instantly. The token is issued by VersaBank USA, overseen by the Bank of North Dakota, and operates with a mint-and-burn system to keep token balances low while dollars remain in bank accounts. Banks use Fiserv’s Commercial Center for near-instant, low-cost settlements, potentially improving efficiency for treasury transfers and loan payoffs. Fiserv plans to expand the platform for other uses like cross-border payments but has not disclosed transaction volumes yet.

Fiserv's launch of Roughrider Coin on Solana for North Dakota banks is presented here with a snapshot of the broader cryptocurrency market on Pluang.
