Duke Energy Florida to lower customer rates starting January 2027, saving residential users $0.71 monthly.

Duke Energy Florida has filed a request with the Florida Public Service Commission to reduce electricity rates beginning January 2027. Residential customers using 1,000 kWh per month will see a $0.71 decrease in their bills compared to December 2026. Commercial and industrial customers will experience bill reductions ranging from 0.8% to 3.6%. The rate decrease is driven by lower fuel costs and an innovative tax strategy that avoids a planned 2% base rate increase. Duke Energy continues investing in renewable energy and grid improvements to enhance reliability while keeping costs manageable. Customers are encouraged to use available energy efficiency and financial assistance programs.
