Cosmos Hub restarts after 25-hour halt, moves $2.1M stolen tokens from attacker’s wallet

Cosmos Hub resumed block production after validators halted the network for nearly 25 hours due to a governance attack on Neutron that gave an attacker control over key contracts. Following the restart, about 1.2 million ATOM tokens worth $2.1 million were moved out of the attacker’s wallet to a new address without the attacker’s signature. The attack stemmed from a Neutron governance vote that passed a proposal allowing the attacker to take admin control of contracts belonging to Astroport and Drop, enabling the theft of approximately $9.4 million in tokens. Neutron remains halted to prevent further damage, while Cosmos Hub itself was not exploited beyond the stolen tokens. Users of affected protocols are advised to withdraw liquidity until further notice.
