Circle Foundation funds UN trials to test stablecoins for faster, cheaper humanitarian payments

Circle Foundation is partnering with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Food Programme (WFP) to trial regulated stablecoins in development and humanitarian aid payments. UNDP will create a Digital Asset Innovation Pool to guide local teams on regulations and operational processes while evaluating payment speed, cost, and reach. Meanwhile, WFP will develop payment infrastructure and conduct trials in two to three countries over three years, focusing on integrating stablecoins with existing local financial services. These projects aim to improve payment efficiency, transparency, and compliance, potentially transforming how international aid is delivered.

Circle Foundation's expansion of stablecoin use coincides with a strong crypto market breadth where 37 of 50 major cryptocurrencies rose on Pluang.
