Cboe finds Bitcoin perpetual futures riskier than 0DTE options due to lack of loss caps.

Cboe Global Markets released a research paper comparing Bitcoin perpetual futures (perps) with zero-days-to-expiration (0DTE) options, concluding they differ significantly in risk profiles. Perpetual futures offer linear exposure with unlimited loss potential and no built-in risk limits, while 0DTE options allow traders to limit losses through defined-risk spreads. The study highlights that 92% of SPX 0DTE options trading involves defined-risk structures, making them useful for hedging and income generation, unlike perps which can lead to total liquidation under adverse moves. This analysis follows the recent US regulatory approval of Bitcoin perps, emphasizing the need for traders to understand the distinct risks and risk management benefits of each product type.

Bitcoin perpetual futures and 0DTE options risk comparison is the subject, with Pluang data showing 20 of 50 major cryptocurrencies rose while 29 fell. Notable movers include COMP at Rp393.100 with a 3.67% decline and 34% sell order activity, BAT at Rp3.277 with a 3.58% gain and 22% sell order activity, and XNO at Rp5.780 with a 3.55% decline and 42% sell order activity. This snapshot is as of Oct 15, 2026 22:22 WIB.
