Blue Energy and GE Vernova announced a collaboration to develop the world's first combined gas and nuclear power plant in Texas, aiming to meet rising U.S. electricity demand driven by AI and advanced manufacturing. The project will use GE Vernova's BWRX-300 small modular reactor and gas turbines, with plans to start early gas-powered operations by 2030 and switch to nuclear power by 2032. This approach could cut nuclear plant construction time to 48 months or less, offering a faster, more affordable energy solution. Blue Energy plans a final investment decision in 2027 and will apply for a construction permit the same year.
