Solana's open interest drops 4.25%, Bitcoin and Solana share highest crypto funding rates at 3.8% annualized

On October 17, Solana (SOL) experienced the largest decline in open interest among major cryptocurrencies, falling 4.25% to $929.5 million. Bitcoin's open interest also decreased by 0.69% to $7.68 billion. Both Solana and Bitcoin had the highest funding rates in the group at 0.0035% every eight hours, equivalent to an annualized 3.8%. Other major assets like Ether, XRP, and Dogecoin showed smaller changes in open interest and lower funding rates. These funding rates indicate that traders holding long positions pay those with short positions, reflecting market sentiment and leverage levels in perpetual futures trading.

Bitcoin holds a market cap of Rp29.536,18 trillion on Pluang as of October 17, 2026, 21:21 WIB, with a 1-day price change of -0.99%. Solana's market cap stands at Rp1.106,49 trillion, down 1.83% in price over the same period. Despite the open interest shifts reported, Pluang data shows Bitcoin with a 66% buy order activity and Solana with 60% buy activity, indicating sustained investor interest in these assets.
