Bitcoin's last 929,465 BTC will take over a century to mine due to halving events reducing rewards.

Bitcoin has mined about 20.07 million BTC since 2009, leaving roughly 929,465 BTC yet to be mined under the 21 million cap. Due to programmed halving events every four years, mining rewards are cut in half, slowing new issuance significantly. The next halving in 2028 will reduce daily new BTC from 450 to 225, and the final BTC is expected around 2140 when block rewards reach zero. This extended timeline means the remaining supply will emerge very slowly, challenging miners to rely more on transaction fees for revenue as subsidies diminish.
