American Airlines has launched its first retrofitted Boeing 777-300ER featuring 144 premium seats, including 70 lie-flat Flagship Suite seats with sliding doors, aimed at attracting high-spending travelers on long-haul international routes like London, Tokyo, and Sydney. The upgrade replaces traditional first class with a larger premium cabin, alongside Premium Economy and Main Cabin Extra sections, enhancing passenger comfort and revenue potential. The airline plans to retrofit its full fleet of 20 Boeing 777-300ERs by next year and is also updating its Airbus A321XLRs with a similar but smaller premium layout. This move is part of American's broader strategy to compete with rivals Delta and United by improving premium offerings, loyalty programs, and expanding its network.
