On October 20, cybercrime researcher ZachXBT revealed that over $20 million in illicit funds entered FreedomXMR, a swap service on Hyperliquid Core, with more than 87% of its incoming volume linked to criminal activity. The funds were traced to ransomware, exploits, malware, and social engineering incidents involving various platforms in 2026. ZachXBT also noted that FreedomXMR's operator sourced Monero through KuCoin and made thousands of deposits to the exchange. While the allegations target FreedomXMR's operators, Hyperliquid itself is not accused of wrongdoing and does not endorse user-deployed assets on its platform.
