AbbVie has submitted an application to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for approval of SKYRIZI (risankizumab) as a subcutaneous induction treatment for adults with moderately to severely active Crohn's disease. This follows positive results from the Phase 3 AFFIRM study, which showed the drug's efficacy and safety. If approved, patients will have the option to receive induction doses via subcutaneous injection in addition to the existing intravenous method, potentially improving treatment convenience. SKYRIZI is already approved for Crohn's disease and other immune-related conditions in the EU and US.
