What Is the Maximum Leverage I Can Use to Open a New Crypto Futures Position?

The maximum leverage for a new Crypto Futures position depends on your recent trading history on that specific contract. New traders on a contract — or anyone who hasn't used above-10x leverage on it recently — are capped at 10x leverage for a new position. If you've held a position or open order above 10x on that contract within the last 14 days, you can still open new positions on it at up to 25x leverage. This tiered structure exists across Pluang's 49 active Crypto Futures contracts, 46 of which support leverage up to 25x; the remaining 3 (BAT, FIL, ZRX) are permanently capped at a maximum of 10x leverage regardless of your trading history, so no amount of recent above-10x activity raises that ceiling on those three specifically.

How it works:

  • This tiered leverage limit applies per contract, not account-wide — your trading history on each specific contract determines your leverage cap for that contract, independent of what you're doing elsewhere.
  • If you're opening a position on a contract for the first time, or haven't touched it in more than 14 days at above-10x leverage, 10x is your ceiling for a new position on it.
  • Traders with an active or recent (within 14 days) position or open order above 10x leverage on that contract retain access to leverage up to 25x for new positions on it.
  • BAT, FIL, and ZRX are permanent exceptions: these 3 of the 49 active contracts are capped at a maximum of 10x leverage at all times, so the 14-day above-10x qualification path doesn't apply to them.
  • The remaining 46 contracts all support up to 25x leverage once you qualify, giving experienced traders meaningfully more exposure per unit of margin than the default 10x tier.

Related questions:

Q: Does the 10x leverage cap apply to all my Crypto Futures contracts or just one?
It applies per contract. Your leverage cap on one contract depends only on your trading history on that specific contract, not your activity elsewhere on the platform, so you could be capped at 10x on one contract while qualifying for 25x on another. This per-contract structure means a broad trading history across many contracts doesn't automatically raise your cap anywhere — only above-10x activity on that exact contract counts toward qualifying for the higher tier.

Q: How do I qualify to open a position above 10x leverage?
You need a position or open order with leverage above 10x on that same contract within the last 14 days; otherwise, new positions on it are capped at 10x. This applies separately to each of the 46 contracts eligible for up to 25x. The 14-day window resets continuously, so letting your qualifying position or order lapse without renewal means your next new position on that contract reverts to the 10x default until you requalify.

Q: What's the highest leverage available for a new Crypto Futures position?
Up to 25x, available on 46 of Pluang's 49 active contracts, and only if your recent trading history on that specific contract already includes a position or open order above 10x leverage within the last 14 days. The three exceptions — BAT, FIL, and ZRX — never reach this tier regardless of your trading history, so always check which of the 49 contracts you're trading before assuming 25x is available.

Q: Does having an open order count toward qualifying for higher leverage?
Yes. An open order above 10x leverage within the last 14 days counts the same as an open position for qualifying purposes, so a pending limit order at above-10x leverage keeps your access to 25x active even before it fills. This means you don't need a filled position to stay qualified — simply maintaining an unfilled limit order above 10x leverage on that contract within the 14-day window is enough to keep the higher tier open.

Q: Are BAT, FIL, and ZRX ever eligible for 25x leverage?
No. These three contracts are permanently capped at a maximum of 10x leverage as a fixed rule, regardless of your trading history or how recently you've used above-10x leverage elsewhere. This cap exists independently of the standard 14-day above-10x qualification path that applies to the other 46 contracts, so no amount of recent trading activity changes it for these three specifically.
