Why Does the Leverage on My Open Position Change When I'm About to Open a New Position?

The system recalculates the leverage shown on your existing open positions to check whether your available margin is sufficient for the new leverage level you're about to select, before you actually submit an order. Because of this, the display of your open positions updates immediately to reflect your live leverage selection for the new order, even though nothing has actually been placed yet and no order has been confirmed. This is a real-time margin sufficiency check, not a confirmed change to your position — Pluang needs to verify upfront that your account can support the new leverage across your combined open exposure. Once you close the order screen without submitting, the display reverts to reflect your positions' actual, unchanged leverage.

Why this happens:

  • It's a margin sufficiency check, not a confirmed change — the system needs to know upfront whether your account can support the new leverage across your open exposure.
  • The update is tied to your live selection — as you adjust the leverage for the new position, the displayed leverage on existing positions moves in step with it in real time.
  • This is normal behavior on Crypto Futures, not an error or a sign that your position was altered without your action.
  • Nothing is final until you submit — backing out of the order screen reverts the display to your positions' actual leverage.

Related questions:

Q: Does this mean my existing position's actual leverage has been changed?
No. The display reflects a live margin check tied to your new order's leverage selection. Your existing position's real leverage, maintenance margin, and liquidation price stay exactly as they were until you submit and confirm a genuinely new order.

Q: Do I need to do anything when I see this happen?
No action is needed unless the leverage shown doesn't match what you intend for your new order — in that case, review your new position's leverage selection before continuing.

Q: Does this affect my Take Profit or Stop Loss orders on the existing position?
No. This display behavior is related only to margin sufficiency checks and doesn't alter, cancel, or reprice your existing TP/SL orders in any way.

Q: Why does the system need to check margin before I've even placed an order?
It ensures you have enough margin across all your open positions for the leverage you're choosing, preventing you from confirming a trade your account can't actually support once combined exposure is taken into account.

Q: Will this display behavior happen every time I open a new position?
Yes, whenever you already hold at least one open position and are configuring leverage for another order, the system runs this same live margin check and updates the display accordingly.
