How Is Margin Maintenance Calculated on Pairs Capped at Max 10x Leverage?

On BAT, FIL, and ZRX — the three Crypto Futures contracts capped at a maximum 10x leverage — your Maintenance Margin is calculated using 2.5% of your total Position Size (notional value, or mark price multiplied by quantity), based on the contract's highest available leverage tier rather than the leverage level you personally selected. This 2.5% basis applies uniformly whether you're trading at 2x, 5x, or the full 10x on these pairs, and it applies even to a grandfathered position that still carries leverage above 10x from before the cap took effect. Maintenance Margin is the minimum amount of margin your position must retain to stay open; once your Margin Level rises above it as losses accumulate, you move into an Initial Margin Call, and further deterioration can trigger liquidation.

What to check if you hold a position or open orders on a capped pair:

  1. Double-check your open positions, leverage, and open orders on BAT, FIL, or ZRX relative to your current Margin Level.
  2. Adjust your leverage down to a maximum of 10x on new orders where possible.
  3. Confirm your Margin Ratio is displaying accurately in the app before relying on it near an Initial Margin Call (above 50%) or Final Margin Call (above 75%).

Related questions:

Q: What percentage is the Maintenance Margin ratio on capped pairs?
The Maintenance Margin ratio is 2.5% of your total Position Size (notional value), the same standard used across every Crypto Futures contract on Pluang, whether or not it's subject to the 10x leverage cap. The cap only changes what leverage you can select, never this ratio.

Q: Does my Maintenance Margin change if my position leverage is still above 10x?
No — the ratio itself doesn't change. It's calculated based on the maximum leverage available on that contract, applying the same 2.5% basis regardless of your personal leverage or when you opened the position.

Q: What should I do to avoid trading disruptions on a capped pair?
Review your open positions, leverage, and open orders regularly, and adjust your leverage down to a maximum of 10x on new orders where possible, so expected and actual margin don't mismatch during volatility.

Q: Where can I confirm my current Margin Ratio?
Check the Margin Ratio displayed on your position details in the app, and make sure it reflects your current leverage and position size accurately before relying on it near a margin call threshold.

Q: Does the 10x cap apply to Maintenance Margin on every Crypto Futures contract?
No. Only BAT, FIL, and ZRX are affected; the other 46 of Pluang's 49 active contracts still support up to 25x, with Maintenance Margin calculated the same way using each contract's own maximum leverage tier.
