Surya Citra Televisi, or popularly known as SCTV, started operations in Surabaya the capital of East Java in 1990 as a regional television station to server the province and the island of Bali. In 1993, pursuant to moving its headquarters to Jakarta, SCTV began broadcasting nationwide.
