When opening a Short/Long position using a limit order, can I open a new position?

If you previously opened a position using a limit order and the status has not been executed, you can also open a Short position using a limit order. These two orders can exist simultaneously in the system, because one is a buy order (long) at a lower price, and the other is a sell order (short) at a higher price.
