Wrightbus, a UK bus manufacturer, has chosen Ballard Power Systems to supply its latest FCmove-SC hydrogen fuel cell engine for the next-generation StreetDeck Hydroliner Gen 3.0 double-decker bus. Production is set to begin in 2027, with the new fuel cell offering higher efficiency, durability, and lower total cost of ownership compared to battery-electric buses. This partnership highlights the growing adoption of hydrogen fuel cells in transit, especially for long-range, high-utilization routes where electric buses face limitations. Ballard's fuel cells already power over 2,200 buses worldwide, supporting sustainable transport solutions.
