The Île-de-France Region, Scaleway, VSORA, and ZML have formed a strategic partnership to develop and deploy Europe's first sovereign AI inference chips based on VSORA's Jotunn8 processor. This alliance aims to reduce Europe's dependence on imported AI chips by creating a full value chain from chip design to cloud infrastructure within Europe. Scaleway will deploy the new chips in its servers, while ZML will integrate its AI software to run any model natively on the new hardware. Supported by regional and European innovation policies, this initiative marks a major step toward technological sovereignty and a competitive AI industry in Europe.
