Singapore launches first autonomous public ride service in Punggol by WeRide and Grab

WeRide and Grab have officially launched Singapore's first autonomous public ride service, Ai.R, in the Punggol residential area. The service uses WeRide’s GXR and Robobus autonomous vehicles and has already served over 1,000 riders during trials, covering 30,000 km autonomously. This initiative also creates new job roles for Grab’s driver-partners as Safety and Remote Operators. The public can now register for free rides during weekdays, with commercial service expected to start mid-2026, marking a significant step towards integrating autonomous vehicles into Singapore's transport system.
