Tonix Pharmaceuticals has dosed the first participant in a Phase 1 study evaluating TNX-1900, an intranasal oxytocin formulation, for treating migraine and craniofacial pain. The study, led by Dr. Antoinette Maassen van den Brink, uses a trigeminal neurovascular reactivity model to measure forehead blood flow response, aiming to block CGRP release, a key factor in migraine. TNX-1900 targets a different pathway than existing CGRP inhibitors, potentially offering a novel non-opioid treatment option. Results will guide further development of this therapy for migraine and related pain conditions.
