TAE Technologies has signed an agreement with Black Moon Energy Corporation to explore helium-3 as a fuel option for its fusion power plants. This partnership aims to provide an alternative, cost-competitive fuel supply, enhancing TAE's flexibility compared to other fusion technologies limited to deuterium-tritium fuel. TAE plans to build its first commercial fusion power plant, Da Vinci, by 2031, with a capacity of 50 MWe, scaling up to 350–500 MWe in future facilities. The collaboration supports the development of a sustainable fusion fuel supply chain, crucial for bringing fusion energy to market.
