A consortium of industry leaders has identified five key Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) hubs in the Asia-Pacific region—two in India, and one each in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Australia—after assessing over 3,000 potential sites. These hubs target emissions reduction in hard-to-abate sectors like steelmaking by enabling large-scale CO₂ capture, transport, and storage. The study, now entering Phase 2, will focus on detailed engineering, commercial models, and regulatory frameworks to make CCUS commercially viable. New partners including shipping expert "K" LINE, Kobe Steel, and Low Emission Technology Australia have joined to enhance expertise and expand the project's scope, highlighting CCUS as a critical pathway toward net-zero emissions in the region.
