A large independent study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health found that SilverCloud by Amwell, a digital behavioral health platform, significantly reduced the prevalence of mental disorders among over 6,200 U.S. college students at risk for anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. The proactive care model reached students early, resulting in higher engagement and a 3.8% lower prevalence of mental disorders after two years compared to traditional in-person care. The study also highlights potential economic benefits, estimating up to $1.18 million in avoided mental health costs within the sample. These results support integrating digital mental health solutions into broader care strategies for educational institutions and health plans.
