MARA Holdings reduced its Bitcoin holdings by about 18,250 BTC, ending Q2 2026 with 35,577 BTC, down 34% from 53,822 BTC at the end of 2025. This shift followed a major sale of 20,880 BTC for $1.5 billion in Q1, used mainly to repurchase $1 billion in convertible debt, strengthening the company's balance sheet and lowering leverage. MARA moved away from its previous full-HODL strategy to strategically monetize Bitcoin for liquidity, debt reduction, growth funding, and other corporate goals. The company is also diversifying into AI and high-performance computing, acquiring Exaion and planning to acquire Long Ridge Energy & Power, while remaining one of the largest public corporate Bitcoin holders.
